We want to alert Tama County residents about a scam that recently surfaced yesterday. Scammers are calling people and pretending to be from the Tama County Sheriff’s Office, claiming you missed federal jury duty and pressuring you to give out personal information.
The Sheriff’s Office will never contact you like this or ask for payment or personal details over the phone. If you get a call like this, hang up immediately. Scammers often use fake numbers, so don’t trust the caller ID.
